Sunset Series-A geologic tour of Southern Idaho

  • 06/11/2014
  • 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
  • Jim Hall Foothills Learning Center
Did you know that western Idaho was once the west coast of North America? Or that a huge lake used to occupy the western Snake River Plain and what is now the Boise-Nampa-Meridian metropolitan area?

Have you ever been out on a drive in southern Idaho and wondered about the rocks and how they were formed? If so, please join us for an evening examining the interesting geologic past of southern Idaho.

GK-12 Fellow and Boise State geology PhD student Tom Colby, will begin with an engaging talk about the general geologic past of southern Idaho.

Following this talk, Tom will lead a roughly 1.5 mile hike in the foothills. This hike will focus on some of the younger, more local geologic features of our area.
