Ever wonder what goes on under the snow in winter? Learn about the many plants and animals that take advantage of and refuge beneath this blanket of white. Called the Nivean World, it is made up of three zones that each contribute something special to small mammals, birds, insects, and plants in terms of survival and comfort.
Come join us as we explore what is happening beneath your feet during your next ski or snowshoe hike. You will be surprised!
Ray Vizgirdas is a biologist and field naturalist who really enjoys winter and has taught winter ecology courses for over 20 years. He will tell us all about this world down under and its importance in our winter ecosystem.
