The Common Nighthawk (Chordeiles minor) is an iconic bird of open and semi-open areas across almost all of the contiguous U.S., often eliciting childhood memories of "booming" displays and deft acrobatic maneuvering in the twilight hours. We will explore what we know and don't know about the biology of this bird and consider the conservation problems at hand that might be responsible for the drastic decline in their populations across all of North America. David Hille, from Northwest Nazarene University will be our speaker.
