Boise Christmas Bird Count
Be a part of the longest-running community science program in the world.
For three weeks each winter, people across North America work together to take a snapshot of bird populations. Anyone can participate, and contribute to a data set that fuels science all year!
This year on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, we are in need of volunteers in the Harris Ranch Community to count the birds that they see. Harris Ranch birders will volunteer for Zone 4 (see map below).
There are 14 geographic Zones in the Boise Christmas Bird Count Circle. Each Zone will have one or two leaders and an appropriate number of Team Members to cover the routes. If your home is within the boundaries of the circle, you can stay at home and report the birds that visit your yard/feeder on count day. Are you new to the Christmas Bird Count? You can join our First Time and Family Count at the MK Nature Center. We will have indoor and outdoor shifts throughout the day.
The Boise Christmas Bird Count will conclude with dinner and stories from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at 4821 Franklin Road (Wright Congregational Church). Everyone is encouraged to attend.
The Christmas Bird Count volunteer link is on the GEAS website below, which will connect people to Volunteer Local. Please visit the website at:
