Join our community partner, Boise River Enhancement Network (BREN)
The Boise River Enhancement Network (BREN) is once again partnering with the University of Idaho to catch crayfish for the Crayfish Mercury Project. This multi-year project measures the level of mercury in Crayfish which helps determine if crayfish and other fish caught from the river are safe for humans to eat.
This is a family friendly event and a great science project for children to participate in. A University of Idaho graduate student will be on site along with BREN professionals to answer questions about crayfish and the Boise River. Please note, although the U of I is looking into methods to test for mercury that preserve the life of the crayfish, at this point in time the crayfish are humanely killed once they reach the university.
The 2024 locations are still being determined but will likely be west of Eagle. Please mark your calendars and watch for more info.
