Advance your e-Bird Skills: Marianne Williams Park

To secure a place at this event, registration is required. Please make sure ALL fields are filled out on the registration form and a confirmation email is received.

Join leaders Jordan Paige and Will Miller to advance your eBird skills. Intended for those who have taken our Beginner eBird course or are moderately comfortable using the app, this course and field trip will discuss some of the more advanced features and uses of eBird. We will begin with a demonstration on using both the eBird website and mobile app, followed by answering any questions you may have. Next, we will head out into the park to practice more advanced checklist skills as we look for birds on a short walk.

Skills we will cover include:
- eBird best practices; How to be an effective citizen scientist.
- Managing your checklists.
- How to use breeding codes.
- Using eBird to find birds or birding locations.
- How to count large flocks for more accurate checklists.
- Target species and rare bird alerts.

Please make sure you have downloaded eBird and are logged into your account. We also recommend downloading the Merlin Bird ID mobile app (We will be covering the crossover functions of eBird and Merlin).

This field trip is suitable for birders of all levels, but please be familiar with the basics of using the eBird mobile app. Binoculars will be available if needed.

Participants younger than 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Participants younger than 18 must have a parent/guardian sign the liability release.

Time: 8:00 - 10:30am

What to bring: Bring layers for weather, binoculars, water and some snacks. Please make sure you have downloaded eBird and are logged into your account. We also recommend downloading the Merlin Bird ID mobile app (We will be covering the crossover functions of eBird and Merlin). No dogs please.

Restroom Availability: Restrooms will be available at the park.
