Please join our partners the Idaho Department of Fish and Game for a Valley Fire Restoration Planting Day.
WHEN: Saturday, November 8th 8:30 to mid-afternoon
What you need to know:
The Valley Fire rapidly scorched 10,000 acres across some of the most heavily used mule deer winter range on the Boise Front.  We need your help to rehabilitate the landscape for wildlife. You will be part of a multi-year, multi-pronged effort to restore habitat on the Boise River Wildlife Management Area.
With the help of many volunteers, we collected 2,600lbs of native plant seed that we used to aerially seed a large swath of the State portion of the burn.  We are entering our second year of fire restoration efforts; with layered treatments comes a better chance of sustained rehabilitation.
The weather can vary drastically in fall.  Please dress accordingly.  From our meeting location at Albertson's, expect a ~20-minute drive to our planting location.
***Carpooling to the site from our meeting location is highly encouraged. If you are able to provide some open seats for carpooling, please state so in the comments. That would be greatly appreciated!
Fish and Game will provide all the tools and equipment required for planting and will provide used leather planting gloves. All planting tools will be provided - planting bar, shovels, buckets, and trowels.  Bring your own knee pad(s) and/or other favorite planting tools if you'd like.
No experience required; a brief training tutorial will be provided by Fish and Game staff and volunteers.  Expect the project to go into early to mid-afternoon.
Meeting Location:Meet at the Columbia Village Albertsons parking lot (over near the Stinker) at 8:30 AM for a ride and to carpool to the Wildlife Management Area (WMA). Coordinates: 43.541959, -116.154113
Please note: Meeting location may change as we approach the event due to weather and other factors. Keep your eyes on your email for the most up-to-date information.
